Looking Back at 2020

Well, 2020 has finally come to an end! This time last year, we were all excited for 2020. Little did we know that it was going to turn out to be one of the most challenging years of our times. It seems like many people have chosen to look at how difficult things have been this year. Think about what a change of mentality could do for our humanity in times like this?

One of my friends posted on Facebook the other day asking for her friends to share positive things that had happened to them in 2020 – and I think that is when it clicked for me. Barry Neil Kaufman once said: “the way you choose to see the world creates the world we see”, and I believe this positive attitude can help us get through difficult times. Yes, it was a challenging year – but a roadblock does not mean it’s the end of the road.

At the end of the day, the important part comes from allowing yourself to learn and grow from the difficult times and being able to appreciate how it will shape you to be a stronger person in the future. Now it’s your turn: what are some positive things that happened to you in 2020? And what are you excited for this 2021?

Here are some positive things that happened to some of our Nichols’ associates:

  • “I was blessed with a new Grandson, Jhase, in May.” Tina Saunders, Director of Marketing & eCommerce
  • “I had more time to volunteer walking dogs at a local animal shelter! Mental and physical wellness are important all the time, but in 2020 it’s importance was elevated for me!” – Brooke Kieft-Anderson, Director of Human Resources
